RED SLED Info:
RED SLED
(Rapid Extraction Device)
(Rapid Equipment Deployment)
All Aspect Product Description
The Red Sled can be used during any scenario from FIREFIGHTING, HAZMAT, SWAT, TECHNICAL RESCUE, WMD EVENTS and USAR scenarios. The only limiting factor regarding its use is lack of imagination and training . You want your equipment to work for you, not you working for your equipment.
Red Sled is a rapid equipment deployment cart that doubles as a low profile stretcher. This dramatically reduces the workload of rescuers by allowing one person the ability to pull a variety of equipment, supplies and victims over any terrain, while having hands free to carry a weapon or overcome large obstacles.
Throughout our industries the need to properly outfit our emergency response personnel with multifunctional equipment that reduces workload and fatigue, as well as leveling the playing fields between a rescuer's age, and physical ability has never been more important. By accomplishing this task, we created a force multiplier, requiring fewer personnel, while increasing effectiveness, reducing fatigue and shortening exposure times.
Red Sled is unique compared to anything available in today's market, due in part to its versatility, compact size, design and capacity. Only now does the user have the ability to provide c-spine immobilization to a victim wearing self contained breathing apparatus or any type of ruck sack. This further enhances the capabilities and diversifies the care and treatment of the users with the Red Sled. With these features, the user is able to rapidly extract victims in regardless of their personal protective equipment from a multitude of scenarios never before possible.
The Red Sled is a fully deconable, easily maintainable product, with replacement parts made to order. The purchaser has the ability to customize overall size, length, color, and external coating to facilitate your needs, depending upon its intended use.
Various Applications
FIRE FIGHTING / RAPID INTERVENTION : How many personnel are on scene dedicated to RIT? Phoenix Fire Dept, after many evolutions, stated it will take between 6 and 10 RIT personnel to remove each victim from the end of a 200 ft hose line depending upon fire conditions and the level of patient entrapment.
During testing while developing the Red Sled, it was found that two (2) personnel are able to bring the necessary equipment and remove the victim in under 15 minutes while using less than 50% of the users air capacity. What tools are necessary to efficiently accomplish RIT?
Rope: 2 bags of 8MM rope 225 Ft long, Cutting Tools: Sawsall, Hack Saw, Tree Saw, Root Saw Hand Tools: 2,000 Series Side Cutters, Soft Cable Cutters
Lifting Devices: 2 ton Bottle Jack, Jaws, Ram or Air Bag and Spare SCBA
STAIRS : Rescuers using the Red Sled can now quickly carry victims up or down interior stairwells due to its compact size and adjustable handle system. The handle design incorporates proper lifting techniques, which minimize back and shoulder injuries.
HAZMAT : Equipment that is used varies from call to call. Carrying the necessary equipment i.e. monitors, rope, flash lights, forcible entry tools, mitigation equipment i.e. chlorine kits, dome clamps, tool boxes, saws alls, absorbent, over pack drums etc. can be overwhelming.
Do we have the necessary manpower to safely carry this equipment downrange, solve the problem, and provide a capable back up team for rit? How will we carry these tools without compromising our level A, B or C suits? These are questions you have to ask yourself, we have provided the answer for you, the Red Sled.
SWAT : During SWAT Operations the Red Sled carries the necessary equipment to incident location. Necessary equipment includes: flash bang grenades, fire extinguishers, compressed nitrogen, forcible entry tools (sledge hammer, Battering ram, hooligan and axe) medic pack and utility bag. During long operations, supports have been made which are used to provide a brief period of rest to assist in holding your weapon down range, or for pole camera operations. A special bracket has also been designed to support two shields lipped together, providing a platform that can be used in clearing long hallways, large buildings or entering open areas. During Hostage Rescue scenarios the Red Sled is also an all terrain stretcher for the evacuation of injured victims.
OFFENSIVE WEAPON DEPLOYMENT : The R 75 was designed around rotary wing aircraft the Arsov, as well as the length and diameter of 120 Millimeter Mortar Rounds as well as the height and length of .50 Cal and Marc 19 weapons. In testing we filled the Ranger 75 with ammunition and placed the preassembled weapons with base and tripod on top of the sled. Two (2) personnel will be able to deploy a fully assembled .50 Cal on top of the Ranger 75 with 1,500 rds equaling 750 lbs of ammunition inside or Marc 19 on top of the Ranger 75 with 500 rds of ammunition inside and then traverse soft varying terrain.
Once in place the weapons are unsecured from the top of the Ranger 75 , placed into the desired firing position, with the Ranger 75 along side of the weapon, the ammunition will feed directly from the Ranger 75 into the weapon. Now a three (3) man team can maneuver or quickly relocate a defensive or perimeter weapon into any necessary position.
Once the ammunition has been fired, the Ranger 75 can be used to transport victims to a safe location for extraction. Two (2) personnel now can transport a victim over soft terrain, hands free while carrying weapons, this operation used to take between 4-6 personnel because of physical limitations and troop security. With the Ranger 75 the unused personnel can continue meeting their mission objective. Once the victims have been evacuated to a secure location, Ranger 75 can be used to resupply ammunition to the troops and placed back into its offensive operation.
MORTAR DEPLOYMENT : The Red Sled can carry forty 81 mm mortars launch tube base plate and bipod. This equipment can now be deployed with a four man team or it can be towed behind Gators, Quads or Polaris Vehicles.
AERIAL DEPLOYMENT : The Red Sled has integrated U-Bolts into its designs, which are rated at a safe working load of 12,400 Lbs each. By integrating the U-Bolts into the design, the Red Sled is ready for air deployment from C-17's or C-130's by simply attaching a retarder to the preinstalled U-Bolts.
When being deployed from Rotary Wing Air Craft the sled can be lowered with a rope and carabineer. If time does not permit, the sled has been designed to survive being thrown from an aircraft at a height of 90 feet (the height of the longest fast rope used by the US Army Rangers) The Red Sled will protect the equipment inside from such impact and remain fully operational to fulfill any task.
AERIAL DEPOLYMENT PALLET : Within seconds, the Red Sled can be converted from an all terrain equipment cart, into a multi-purpose aerial pallet by attaching webbing or stokes basket harness to the preinstalled U-Bolts. Once applied, tools and equipment can be raised or lowered into any environment by crane or helicopter. After a structural collapse carrying equipment to the desired location is treacherous due to the fall hazards, exposed rebar and loose concrete. Having our equipment lowered to the rescue personnel will prevent severe injuries.
ROBOTIC APPLICATIONS : The U.S. Military is preparing for future missions by incorporating robotic technology into combat situations and humanitarian relief efforts. The Red Sled has the ability to be trained together and pulled with minimal force due to its three-wheel inline design. This will facilitate future missions by allowing robots to pull equipment into hostile areas, WMD events and hazardous environments, carrying weapons, ammunition, food and water to the desired location and returning with victims and / or causalities. Unfortunately, when dealing with robots, mechanical failure must be expected. When these events occur, rescuers will be able to complete the various missions since the Red Sled virtually eliminates friction. Due to its design, the Red Sled will allow one person to accomplish virtually impossible feats by today's standards.
LITTER ACCOMMODATIONS : When extracting victims we also incorporated the design of all military cots, stokes basket, back boards or skedco litters into the dimensions of the Red Sled. Allowing our equipment to be mission adaptable not mission specific.
CONFINED SPACE : When entering mines, caves or void spaces moving equipment is difficult at best. The Mini Red Sled now provides an all terrain equipment cart / stretcher. Not only will the Red Sled carry our equipment, it can be used to remove our victims.

Material Spec's
• The strength and durability has been created with military applications and air deployment in mind. The Red Sled is constructed of 5051 gauge aluminum, the Red Sled is unaffected by extreme temperatures ranging from minus 50 degrees to over 850 degrees.
• During strength and durability testing, 3900 Lbs of concrete was placed on top of the sled and easily maneuvered by two personnel. This was done, to test the dynamic load capacity of the Red Sled. An additional 2,300 Lbs of concrete was placed on top of the Red Sled (total weight 6,200 Lbs), to test the static load capacity of the Red Sled. Testing was halted at that weight, due to mathematical calculations. Engineers stated it would be impossible to reach these weights without using the slabs of reinforced concrete. Though, engineers estimate the Red Sled will safely support a 5,000 Lb dynamic load and a 10,000 Lb static load.
• The hardware that is used on a Red Sled is made of Grade 8 carbon steel and attached with Grade 8 nylon lock nuts and washers (ASTMA 563 grade 8 90,000 KSI proof load). The u-bolts are rated at 12,400 Lbs. The wheels are attached with either 1/2 or 5/8 Inch hardware is rated at 7,800 or 15,000 Lbs. Nuts and bolts are spaced every 1.25 inches making the Red Sled virtually indestructible.
• Adjustable handles are made of 1/8-inch wall stainless steel pipe to provide a strong durable lifting point. The seat belts are rated at 10,000 lbs safe working load and the c-spine immobilization device is made of water, tear and fire resistant Sunbrella material sewn with Kevlar thread.
• The Red Sled has three (3) wheels on each side with the center wheel lower than the others, which provides a slight rocking motion. This rocking motion allows for ease of 360-degree rotation within in its own length regardless of the load placed on top or within the Red Sled.
